First day

Excursion to Nukus

9:00–12:00 — Karakalpak State Museum of Art named after I.V. Savitsky. One of the most famous museums in Uzbekistan, often called the "Louvre in the desert." The collection contains approximately 100,000 exhibits and includes the art of ancient Khorezm, Karakalpak folk arts and crafts, and a unique collection of Russian and Soviet avant-garde art.
12:00–13:00 — Bazarbay Serekeyev House Museum. A visit to the home of the Honored Artist of Karakalpakstan, where art blends with family history. A traditional yurt is located in the courtyard, where guests can learn about everyday life and sample traditional Karakalpak dishes.
14:00–14:30 — Bakhtiyor Serekeyev Studio An introduction to the works of a contemporary artist, the son of Bazarbay Serekeyev, who works in the Art Nouveau style and continues an artistic dynasty.
15:00–15:30 — Bibisara Kunnazarova’s Workshop A visit to a craftswoman who is reviving traditional carpet weaving, used today to decorate modern yurts and interiors.
15:45–16:30 — Gulnara Embergenova’s Workshop. An introduction to the unique technique of Karakalpak national embroidery, revived by one of the first craftswomen in the region.
16:30–17:30 — Visit to the craftswoman Damekhan apa. Visit to the workshop where kurpachi are made — traditional quilted items that are an important part of Karakalpak life and culture.
