Frequently asked questions
11 answers to frequently asked questions
Do Uzbek citizens need a visa for Azerbaijan?
No, you can stay visa-free for up to 90 days. Rules are as of October 2026; before booking, we'll double-check them for your dates.
How long is the flight from Tashkent?
About 3 hours on a direct flight (2 h 50 min – 3 h 15 min). In winter, Uzbekistan Airways flies on Thursdays and Sundays, Centrum Air on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and Azerbaijan Airlines operates overnight flights arriving in Baku at 4–5 a.m.
What's the currency, exchange rate, and time difference?
The currency is the manat; the official rate has held at around 1.70 manat to the dollar for years, and dollars are easy to exchange. Azerbaijan is 1 hour behind Tashkent.
Can you swim in the Caspian?
Yes, in July–August the water is around 24–26 °C. The beaches are on the Absheron Peninsula near Baku.
When is the best time to visit Baku?
Spring (April–June) and fall (September–October) for the city; July–August if you want the beach.
How much does a 7-day package to Baku cost?
It depends on the hotel and dates. “From” prices per person — including flights from Tashkent and transfers — are in the section “Azerbaijan Tour Prices by Hotel”. We’ll send you 2–3 options for your dates within a day.
How many days should I spend in Baku?
3–5 nights is enough for Baku itself. If you want to head to the mountains — Gabala or Sheki — plan on 6–7 nights: the drive there takes 3–5 hours each way.
What is there to see outside Baku?
Gobustan with its rock carvings and the mud volcanoes — half a day; the Ateshgah fire temple and the burning mountain of Yanar Dag — in the evening; the Gabala mountains with their cable car and historic Sheki — a day trip or an overnight; skiing in Shahdag in winter. Distances are in the table above.
Do I need to register?
Not for the first 15 days. If you stay longer, you need temporary registration, which the hotel usually handles. You can stay visa-free for up to 90 days.
How much money should I bring to Baku?
Lunch at an inexpensive café is about 15 manat ($9), coffee about $3.50, and a metro ride less than a dollar. By our estimate, about $50 per person a day covers cafés, transportation, and one paid attraction. More details in the section “How Much a Vacation Costs on the Ground”.
What is included in a last-minute tour?
Usually round-trip flights from Tashkent, airport transfers, and a hotel with breakfast. Excursions to Gobustan, Gabala, and Sheki are paid separately. We'll tell you exactly what's included in each offer when we send you the options.
Short term trip to Chimgan mountains We decided on a very short term to spend one day hiking in the Chimgan mountains. The accommodation was great and the day hike with Lena was wonderful. We walked through less frequented parts of the national park and the views were amazing. Lena was taking care of everything, even cooked tea for us when hiking. The organization of the trip was perfect. We recommend Evgenij and his tour guide Lena for sure. For our next trip to the Chimgan mountains we know for sure who to ask.

I’ve traveled with Zhenya Shabanov several times now: we hiked Patandezbashi, went to Turkmenistan together, and most recently did a seven-day trip through the Fann Mountains. He organizes every trip end to end, taking each participant’s interests into account. On our trek he lent everyone his own tents and sleeping bags and took care of the meals; when we went to Turkmenistan — that was back in 2024, when it had only just opened up to tourists — he told us all about his own experience there and put all our worries to rest. Plus, Zhenya is simply fun and interesting to be around — he’s incredibly well-read and always has an amusing story to share. I highly recommend Zhenya!

School No. 31, Tashkent, 29.11.2025 On November 29, 2025, led by Evgeny Shabanov, we visited the Institute of Solar Physics and the Sukok forest.
The children were delighted with everything they saw. The science lessons were vivid, interesting and convincing. The magic power of the Sun amazed the children. Every experiment was met with a storm of emotions. The guides gently introduced the children to the history of their native land and showed them the beauty of the autumn landscapes. The routes were designed with the abilities and interests of fourth-graders in mind.
We liked the comfortable transport and the professionalism of the drivers. All our delight was captured by an experienced photographer. The children were delighted with everything they saw. The parents keep thanking us for the excursion.
Evgeny, we are waiting for new routes.
Good luck to you! Stay healthy! WE LOVE YOU!
