Seychelles Vacation: The Essentials

The Seychelles is an island nation in the Indian Ocean. Tours from Tashkent go to the main island, Mahé, home to the international airport, the capital Victoria, and most of the hotels. From Mahé, people take day trips to Praslin and La Digue.

There are no direct flights from Tashkent: the most convenient option is a connection in Dubai — about 15 hours of total travel time. Citizens of Uzbekistan don’t need a visa: a visitor’s permit of up to 3 months is issued free of charge on arrival. However, you must obtain an electronic Travel Authorisation before departure.

The Seychelles is 1 hour behind Tashkent.

Islands of the Seychelles

Most visitors stay on Mahé, and Praslin and La Digue are the most popular trips from there — each island has its own character.

  • Seychelles island from above

    Mahé

The main island: the airport, the capital Victoria, Beau Vallon Beach in the northwest, and Morne Seychellois National Park, which covers more than a fifth of the island and peaks at 905 m.

  • The coast of Praslin Island

    Praslin

Home to the Vallée de Mai Nature Reserve, a UNESCO site: a forest of endemic coco de mer palms where the Seychelles black parrot lives.

  • Granite boulders on La Digue

    La Digue

A small island with Anse Source d'Argent beach and its famous granite boulders. The beach is accessed through L'Union Estate, for a fee.

Things to Do in the Seychelles

  • Beau Vallon Beach

Mahé’s main resort beach, in the northwest of the island.

  • Morne Seychellois Trails

More than 15 km of trails through the national park; entry from 100 rupees.

  • Vallée de Mai on Praslin

A UNESCO-listed reserve with a forest of coco de mer palms.

  • Anse Source d'Argent on La Digue

A beach framed by granite rocks — the signature image of the Seychelles.

  • Giant tortoises

A symbol of the Seychelles — you can see them on the islands.

Frequently asked questions

8 answers to frequently asked questions

Do citizens of Uzbekistan need a visa for the Seychelles?

No. A visitor’s permit of up to 3 months is issued free of charge on arrival. However, you must obtain an electronic Travel Authorisation before departure — only at seychelles.govtas.com or through the Seychelles E-Border app. Rules are current as of October 2026; we’ll double-check them for your dates before booking.

What do you need at the border?

A passport valid for your entire trip, a return ticket, a confirmed accommodation booking, and funds of at least $150 per person per day. For the Travel Authorisation you’ll need your passport, a selfie, your tickets, and accommodation bookings for each island.

Is there a direct flight from Tashkent, and how long is the trip?

There are no direct flights. The most convenient route is via Dubai — about 15 hours of total travel time. There are also options via Istanbul and Moscow, but they take longer.

When is the season in the Seychelles?

You can swim year-round. May through September is cooler and drier; November through March is hot and humid with more frequent rain. April and October are the shoulder season, with calm seas.

Is it worth going for New Year’s?

Yes: the water is warm, but December and January are the northwest monsoon season, with tropical downpours. January is the rainiest month.

What fees are paid locally?

Since 2026, medium-sized hotels (25–50 rooms) charge 75 rupees per person per night, and large hotels and island resorts charge 100 rupees. Small hotels and children under 12 are exempt.

Mahé or Praslin?

Mahé is the main island, with the airport, the capital, and the widest choice of hotels. Praslin and La Digue are quieter; people usually visit them on a day trip or for part of their vacation.

What is the currency and the time difference?

The currency is the Seychellois rupee. The Seychelles is 1 hour behind Tashkent.
