This one-day excursion This tour is dedicated to exploring Bukhara, one of the most ancient cities in Central Asia, which for centuries served as a major religious, cultural, and commercial center along the Great Silk Road. After breakfast at the hotel, enjoy a comprehensive sightseeing tour of the city's historic center, accompanied by an experienced, professional guide.
Tour itinerary
In the morning, you'll meet your guide and head to Bukhara's historic center. Your first stop is the Ark Fortress, a massive citadel that served as the ruler's residence for centuries. Here, you can explore the grounds, see the remains of the palace buildings, and climb the walls for a panoramic view of the old city.
The route then leads to the Poyi Kalon architectural complex. You approach the Kalyan Minaret, a slender 12th-century tower visible from almost anywhere in the historic part of Bukhara. Nearby is the enormous cathedral mosque and the functioning Mir-Arab Madrasah, where students still study. Just nearby is the 15th-century Ulugh Beg Madrasah, a quiet courtyard with carved portals where Ulugh Beg himself once taught.
The walk continues through the 16th-century covered trading domes. Small shops still operate beneath the vaults of Toka, where artisans sell traditional fabrics, ceramics, and jewelry. Lunch is also common here at one of the local restaurants in the old town, featuring plov, lagman, or shashlik.
After lunch, the tour moves to the southern part of the city center. You'll visit the Magoki-Attori Mosque, one of Bukhara's oldest surviving buildings, with architectural elements dating from the 9th to 12th centuries. Then, you'll visit the workshop of a famous Bukharan puppeteer, where you can witness the puppet-making process and enjoy short performances.
The day concludes with a stroll through the Lyabi-Khauz complex. You'll walk around the rectangular pond, surrounded by centuries-old plane trees and a madrasah, and stop at the monument to Khoja Nasreddin—a bronze statue of the sage on a donkey.

Yes, in many cities (including Khiva), this is possible in the afternoon or during free time. Renting costumes usually costs 5-10 USD, and guides know suitable spots for photos against the backdrop of historical sites.
Are cities in Uzbekistan safe for tourists?
Uzbekistan is considered one of the safest countries to travel to in Central Asia. Tourist police are present in tourist areas (Ichan-Kala, the historic centers of Samarkand and Bukhara), and locals are welcoming. Take the usual precautions—keep an eye on your personal belongings in crowded places.
Clothing and behavior at shrines
When visiting the mausoleums, modest clothing covering the shoulders and knees is recommended. Women are advised to bring a headscarf or scarf. It is recommended to perform ablutions (where possible) before entering the complexes. Maintain silence, respect, and adhere to local traditions—this will allow you to fully experience the atmosphere of the ziyarat.
