Vietnam in Winter: Phu Quoc or Nha Trang — Where Is the Dry Season?
Why Phu Quoc is the better pick for Vietnam in winter, when to go to Nha Trang, which direct flights operate from Tashkent, and how to get a visa.
In this article
Vietnam is one of the most popular destinations for travelers from Uzbekistan. But the climate varies across the country: while one resort is in its dry season, another is getting rain. Here's where to go in winter.
Phu Quoc: A Winter Resort
On Phu Quoc Island, the dry season runs from November to April: sunny, with daytime highs of 25–32 °C. The rains come from May to October. That's why Phu Quoc is Vietnam's top beach pick from November to March.
Another plus: if you fly directly to Phu Quoc, you can stay visa-free for up to 30 days. The conditions: a direct international flight to the island, a return ticket within 30 days and a passport valid for at least 6 months. Under this visa exemption, you can't travel from the island to the mainland.
Nha Trang: Better in Summer
Nha Trang is the opposite: the rainy season runs from September to December, October and November are the wettest months, and the sea is rough at that time. December is a transition month. The best time for Nha Trang is May to August, when it's dry and hot.

How to Fly from Tashkent
- Phu Quoc — direct flights by Centrum Air, Qanot Sharq and Uzbekistan Airways, about 6.5–7 hours.
- Nha Trang (Cam Ranh Airport) — direct flight by Uzbekistan Airways, about 7.5 hours.
Vietnam Visa
If you're not flying to Phu Quoc or want to travel around the country, you'll need an e-visa. Apply on the official portal evisa.gov.vn: up to 90 days, $25 for single entry, $50 for multiple entry. Processing usually takes 3–5 business days, so apply in advance.
